Companion app privacy
Flojas Companion Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 21, 2026 · Last updated: June 20, 2026
Short version: Flojas Companion is a supporting iOS and Android capture app for existing Flojas users. It can sync user-authorized Apple Health/HealthKit or Google Health Connect data, help log food, barcode/nutrition-label scans, water, and user-started workout distance/duration aggregates, and send those records to the Flojas backend so the primary web app can compute scores, freshness, trends, and Coach context. We do not sell personal data or use health data for advertising.
1. Who We Are and What This Covers
Flojas Companion is operated by teJai Technologies LLC, 9191 Kyser Way, Suite 202, Frisco, TX 75033, United States. Contact support@flojas.app for privacy and data requests.
This policy covers the iOS app with bundle ID com.tejai.flojas.companion and the Android app with package name app.flojas.companion. The broader Flojas web app and website Privacy Policy is available at https://flojas.tejai.tech/privacy.
2. Data the Companion App Collects or Accesses
Account and access data
Firebase sign-in identity, email/auth state, Premium eligibility, onboarding/readiness status, app security state, and the account-to-health record link needed to verify access.
Apple Health and HealthKit
Selected Apple Health read data only after you grant permission in iOS. Flojas Companion does not write data back to Apple Health.
Google Health Connect
Selected Android Health Connect read data only after you grant permission in Android, including background/history read if you choose to allow them.
Food, barcode, and water logs
Water entries and food/macronutrient entries you choose to log, including barcode or nutrition-label data when you scan it.
Camera
Camera access is requested only when you choose photo food logging, barcode scanning, or nutrition-label capture.
Workout location and motion
Foreground location may be used only for user-started workout distance/duration capture. iOS motion-related access may be used when available to support activity and workout context.
3. iOS Apple Health / HealthKit Data Types
On iOS, Flojas Companion may request read access to selected Apple Health data such as:
- Activity and workouts: step count, workouts/workout duration, walking/running distance, flights climbed, stand time, and active energy.
- Sleep and recovery: sleep analysis/stages, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Cardiometabolic signals: blood pressure, VO2 max, blood glucose, basal energy, and related health metrics where supported.
- Body and wellness context: body mass, body fat, lean body mass, body temperature, wrist temperature, and mindful-session records where supported and authorized.
Flojas Companion does not write Apple Health data. You can revoke Apple Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings or the Health app.
4. Android Google Health Connect Data Types
On Android, Flojas Companion may request read access to these Health Connect data types after you start the connection flow:
- Activity and exercise: steps, distance, floors climbed, elevation gained, exercise sessions.
- Sleep and recovery: sleep sessions and sleep stages.
- Heart, cardiopulmonary, and recovery: resting heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and VO2 max.
- Metabolic and energy: blood glucose, basal metabolic rate, active calories burned, and total calories burned.
- Body composition: weight, body fat, lean body mass, body water mass, and bone mass.
- Health Connect settings: background read permission and history read permission if you grant them.
5. Data We Do Not Collect or Use
- No microphone access and no voice logging.
- No contacts, calendar, SMS, broad file storage, or external-storage access.
- No sale of personal data, no data brokers, and no health data advertising.
- No GPS coordinates, routes, route maps, or polylines are stored by Flojas. Backend validation rejects coordinate and route payloads.
- No use of Apple Health, HealthKit, or Health Connect data for ads, resale, or unrelated purposes.
- No companion-app payment processing; billing is handled through the primary Flojas web app and payment providers.
6. How Companion Data Is Used
- To sync user-authorized metrics into the user's Flojas health record.
- To support Flojas scoring, freshness, trends, correlations, Do-Today context, AM Brief context, and Coach teJai context.
- To prevent duplicate imports, preserve provenance, and reject unsupported or unknown metrics.
- To show sync state, missing-permission state, and basic score shortcuts in the companion app.
- To troubleshoot security, authentication, sync, and app reliability issues.
7. Storage, Security, and Sharing
Flojas Companion sends authorized logs and imports to Firebase/Google Cloud backend services used by Flojas. Account records are keyed by Firebase Auth user ID. Health evidence is stored in health-owned backend paths keyed by the user's Flojas health ID, not by a public profile ID.
Data is encrypted in transit. Sensitive Flojas health evidence is protected by the Flojas backend security model, Firestore rules, audit controls, and end-to-end encryption where the Flojas data contract requires it. Unsupported or unknown metrics are rejected by backend validation and do not become score evidence.
Service providers include Google/Firebase/Google Cloud infrastructure. Food image or nutrition parsing may use Flojas backend services and approved AI infrastructure. We do not sell data to third parties.
8. User Control, Retention, and Deletion
- You can grant, deny, or revoke Apple Health and Health Connect permissions in iOS/Android settings at any time.
- You can stop using camera, location, or motion-related features by not granting those permissions or by revoking them in system settings.
- Flojas account export and deletion controls are available in the primary Flojas web app/account settings.
- You may also email support@flojas.app with the subject line Data Deletion Request or Privacy Request.
9. Children and Minors
Flojas Companion is not directed to children under 13. Minor users may use Flojas only through the guardian-consent flow described in the Flojas User Agreement, and the consenting guardian must be an adult authorized to consent for the minor.
10. Not Medical Advice, No Guarantees
Flojas Companion and all Flojas outputs are for general fitness, wellness, educational, informational, and healthy lifestyle awareness purposes only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, emergency service, disease management, or a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional. Flojas is provided as-is and as-available, with no guarantee that data sync, scores, trends, AI outputs, or recommendations will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, or suitable for your needs.
11. Changes
We may update this companion privacy policy when app data practices, permissions, platform requirements, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
